6 Foods to avoid in case you have Piles

Piles or Haemorrhoids refers to a condition where the veins in the anal region get inflamed and swell up. Among various other causes for Piles, constipation remains to be the major cause for Piles or Haemorrhoids. Constipation occurs due to the lack of fiber intake in our diet. But what are the foods to avoid to prevent worsening of your haemorrhoids?

6 Foods to be avoided:

  1. Caffeinated foods: Beverages like coffee, tea, colas, should be avoided if you have piles. 
  2. Processed meat: Processed meat contain plenty of preservatives that may be harmful to your digestive tract. Fresh, lean meats should be preferred over processed meat. 
  3. Bakery Items: Most of the Bakery items are made out of refined flour and sugar and lack fiber. Bakery items are easy to digest but are not easy on the digestive tract. The complete lack of fiber can cause constipation which can worsen your condition. 
  4. Polished rice: Polished rice or White rice is rice that has had its husk, bran, and germ removed. The type of rice is completely stripped of its nutritional value and fiber. They are simple carbohydrates that can increase the occurrence of constipation. 
  5. Dairy: Milk as such does not cause constipation. But if you use skimmed milk which is low in fat, then this might increase constipation. 
  6. Deep fried foods: Deep-fried food has no nutritional value and also can cause constipation. Deep-fried foods should be avoided as much as possible.
