Is there a connection between obesity and piles?

Piles or Hemorrhoids is a condition where the blood vessels in the anal or rectal region get swollen due to sedentary lifestyles, constipation, etc. But is there a relationship between obesity and piles? Obesity is a condition which is accompanied by several other co-morbid conditions. Obese people have a higher risk of getting piles than non-obese people. A majority of the people with uncontrolled obesity consume a high carb and low fiber diet. This type of diet can cause constipation which is one of the causes for piles. Obese people have visceral fat tangled on tops of their intestine and other organs. The visceral fat on top of the intestine can prevent the intestine from moving and thereby causing constipation in the long run. Severely obese people accumulate fat in the anal and buttocks region, which causes increased pressure in the pelvic and lower pelvic region. This pressure radiates to the coccyx vertebrae which pricks the anal region and causes problems like piles, anal fissures, and fistulas, etc. The increased pressure also pressurizes the blood vessels in the anus which can cause piles.
